NEXES Partners Acknowledged for Merit in the Emergency Services Field
The NEXES RIA is a EU-funded Research and Innovation Action dedicated to validate the promising integration of Internet-based communication technologies and interoperability into next generation emergency services, so that they attain increased effectiveness and performance. NEXES’s innovation encompasses the use of total conversation capabilities in emergencies, including social media, to the benefit of citizens, including those with disability or special needs, the exploitation of improved location information to rapidly and effectively identify and locate the caller and the incident site and the leverage of Internet-enabled connectivity to enhance interoperability and shared awareness among emergency services, to the benefit of a more secure society.
This paramount challenge is now undertaken by the NEXES Consortium, a team of seventeen partners of ten countries, highly skilled and experienced in emergency management, communications and service, innovation engineering and telecommunications. Most of the NEXES Partners and Advisors have in fact been recognised for the past years by the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) on their valuable contribution to the development of next generation emergency services: the Special Telecommunications Service (Romania) received the 2013 Outstanding Education on 112 award and the 2015 Outstanding Emergency Call Centre award; the Emergency Response Centre Administration (Finland) was awarded the 2013 Outstanding National 112 System and the 2014 Outstanding Rescue Act; the Romanian 112 System was recognised in 2014 for its Outstanding National 112 System Reform; the Regional Emergency Agency AREU (Italy) was awarded the 2015 Outstanding Emergency Call Centre; British Telecom (UK) received the 2015 Outstanding Emergency Services Innovation prize for its emergency call centre level 1; and SOS Alarm (Sweden) merited the 2015 Outstanding Rescue recognition.
The NEXES Team is indeed the key differentiator to ensure the NEXES RIA success in creating a reference implementation system for the next generation emergency services.
